Every sealed run leaves one fingerprint here, in the order it was sealed. A single anchor folds them all together. Save the anchor today, and if any past seal were ever silently rewritten, the anchor you saved would no longer match - the tampering is detectable by anyone, with no trust in us. Recompute it yourself below.
fold(head₀, head₁, …); changing, dropping or reordering any one head changes the anchor.A single seal proves its own dice were not fudged. The transparency log proves something larger: that the set of sealed runs has only ever grown, never been quietly edited. It is the same idea as a certificate-transparency log. A revoked run still stays in the log - it genuinely existed; revocation is a separate, signed statement layered on top.
